The advantage of zero degree weather is that, if you happen to have a
small refrigerator, which we do, and you stock up for a birthday
party, you can put the items that don't fit in the fridge outside the
front door to keep cool.

An old midwestern trick! Helen Appell used to keep all sorts of christmas goodies out on the porch--cold turkey and grad kaka and drinks.
BTW, Loren Appell called here today wondering why you have not returned his many phone calls. I informed him that the phone has been hiding under our sofa since Christmas. So you might want to give him a call.
